Purpose of the Role
The incumbent will be responsible to lead and manage the plant's accounting, finance, commercial, costing, procurement, logistics, compliance, and IT support functions, ensuring financial discipline, cost optimization, regulatory compliance, and seamless business operations. The role will act as a key interface between plant operations and corporate functions to drive commercial efficiency and operational continuity.
Job Responsibilities (KRA)
1. Plant Finance & Accounting
- Lead day-to-day plant accounting and financial control activities.
- Monitor plant expenses, budgets, cash flows, receivables, payables, and working capital.
- Ensure accurate and timely financial reporting, MIS, and management dashboards.
- Monitor financial performance against budgets and identify areas for improvement.
- Strengthen internal financial controls and ensure adherence to company policies.
2. Taxation, Audit & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with applicable GST, TDS, Income Tax, statutory, and regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate with internal and external auditors for timely completion of audits.
- Ensure proper maintenance of financial records, documentation, and statutory registers.
- Identify financial and compliance risks and implement appropriate control measures.
- Ensure adherence to corporate governance standards and internal control procedures.
3. Plant Commercial Management
- Oversee the plant's commercial activities covering procurement coordination, logistics, finance, costing, vendor management, and commercial documentation.
- Coordinate with procurement and operations teams to ensure timely availability of materials and services.
- Monitor purchase-related commercial terms, vendor payments, contracts, and documentation.
- Support commercial negotiations and identify opportunities for cost reduction.
4. Costing & Cost Optimization
- Drive product/process costing and monitor manufacturing costs.
- Analyze material, conversion, manpower, logistics, energy, and overhead costs.
- Identify cost-saving opportunities and work closely with plant functions to improve cost efficiency.
- Track actual costs against standard/budgeted costs and highlight significant variances.
- Develop cost-control initiatives and monitor their implementation.
5. Procurement & Logistics
- Work closely with procurement and supply chain teams to optimize purchasing and logistics costs.
- Monitor vendor performance, payment cycles, inventory levels, and material movement.
- Identify opportunities to improve procurement efficiency, freight optimization, and inventory management.
- Ensure commercial terms and contractual obligations are aligned with organizational objectives.
6. IT Infrastructure & Business Continuity
- Oversee plant-level IT infrastructure and ensure uninterrupted availability of critical IT systems.
- Coordinate with corporate/IT teams for ERP, networking, hardware, software, cybersecurity, and user-support requirements.
- Ensure appropriate data security, access controls, backup, and business continuity measures.
- Identify opportunities for digitization and automation of finance and commercial processes.
7. Cross-Functional Coordination
- Act as a key coordination point between Plant Operations, Finance, Procurement, Stores, Logistics, HR, IT, and Corporate Finance.
- Ensure seamless flow of information and timely resolution of commercial and financial issues.
- Support plant leadership in business planning, decision-making, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Ensure all plant functions operate within approved budgets, policies, and regulatory requirements.
8. Team Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance/commercial team to achieve functional objectives.
- Define team KPIs, monitor performance, and build accountability.
- Develop a high-performance culture with focus on accuracy, compliance, cost consciousness, and timely execution.
