Purpose of the Role
To safely and efficiently operate Electric Vehicle (EV) Heavy Earth Moving Machinery (HEMM) for limestone excavation support, material loading, transportation, and dumping activities in the captive limestone mines and associated material-handling areas of an integrated cement plant. The role is responsible for achieving production targets while ensuring equipment safety, energy efficiency, and compliance with mine safety procedures.
Job Responsibilities (KRA)
EV HEMM Operation
- Operate assigned electric HEMM equipment, such as battery-electric dump trucks, haul trucks, wheel loaders, or other designated machinery.
- Transport limestone, overburden, and other mining materials between designated loading, hauling, dumping, and crushing locations.
- Follow prescribed loading, transportation, unloading, and dumping procedures.
- Maintain safe operating speeds, payload limits, and equipment handling practices.
- Achieve daily production targets while minimizing idle time and equipment downtime.
B. Electric Vehicle Operation and Monitoring
- Understand equipment controls, dashboard indicators, warning alarms, safety interlocks, and operating procedures.
- Monitor battery State of Charge (SOC), operating range, and energy consumption for battery-electric equipment, where applicable.
- Follow authorized charging, battery-swapping, or trolley-assist procedures, depending on the equipment configuration.
- Identify and report abnormal electrical warnings, battery alerts, motor-related faults, and other equipment malfunctions.
- Follow manufacturer-recommended startup, shutdown, and parking procedures.
C. Pre-Start Inspection and Equipment Care
- Conduct routine pre-operational inspections before starting each shift.
- Check brakes, steering, tyres, lights, horns, mirrors, seat belts, cameras, and emergency safety systems.
- Inspect hydraulic systems, attachments, and other visible components for leaks or damage.
- Verify dashboard status and report electrical, mechanical, or battery-related abnormalities.
- Maintain equipment cleanliness and ensure proper completion of daily inspection checklists.
D. Safety and Statutory Compliance
- Comply with mine safety regulations, site SOPs, traffic management plans, and applicable statutory requirements.
- Wear prescribed PPE and follow safe operating practices in mining and plant areas.
- Maintain safe distances from excavators, other HEMM, pedestrians, and stationary equipment.
- Follow designated routes and safety procedures around charging stations, electrical infrastructure, and trolley-assist systems, where applicable.
- Immediately report unsafe conditions, near misses, incidents, and equipment defects to the supervisor.
E. Production Monitoring and Shift Reporting
- Record equipment operating hours, trip details, payloads, production figures, and energy-related data as required.
- Coordinate with mine supervisors, dispatch teams, loading-equipment operators, and maintenance personnel.
- Report equipment breakdowns, operational delays, and abnormal operating conditions.
- Complete shift handover reports and maintain accurate equipment logbooks.
- Support productivity improvement, equipment availability, and energy-efficient operation.
Job Requirements (KPI)
Qualification: Any Diploma/ITI
Experience: 3-4 years(6 – 8 Months exposure into EV ( Electrical Vehicles for HEMM)
