Purpose of the Role
The Dispatch Supervisor will manage day-to-day despatch operations at the plant across assigned shifts, ensuring finished goods are loaded, documented, and dispatched to customers accurately and on time, in line with production and sales schedules.
Job Responsibilities (KRA)
- Plan and supervise dispatch operations during assigned shift, ensuring continuity and proper handover to the next shift.
- Coordinate with production, warehouse, quality, and logistics teams to ensure smooth material flow and timely loading, round the clock.
- Supervise loading operations (trucks/containers/rail, as applicable) and ensure correct product, quantity, and quality are dispatched in every shift.
- Prepare and verify despatch documentation – invoices, delivery challans, gate passes, weighment slips, and export documents where required.
- Maintain accurate despatch records in the ERP/SAP system and ensure stock reconciliation between warehouse and despatch, shift-wise.
- Ensure a proper shift handover process – pending orders, vehicle status, and open issues communicated clearly to the incoming shift supervisor.
- Monitor and control despatch-related costs, including transport utilization and demurrage.
- Ensure compliance with company safety standards during loading and material handling, including night shift operations.
- Supervise and guide despatch team members/operators on shift; allocate daily tasks and monitor productivity.
- Liaise with transporters and logistics providers for vehicle placement and timely dispatch across all shifts.
- Handle customer/sales team queries related to despatch status and delivery schedules.
- Ensure compliance with Oman customs, export, and local regulatory requirements for despatch (where applicable).
- Report shift-wise dispatch performance (volumes dispatched, pending orders, delays) to management.
Job Requirements (KPI)
Qualification & Experience
- Diploma in Engineering (any relevant discipline).
- 7–12 years of experience in despatch/logistics operations in a steel plant or heavy manufacturing environment.
- Prior experience working in a shift-based/rotational shift environment is required.
- Working knowledge of ERP/SAP for despatch and inventory management.
- Experience in team supervision and handling loading operations for bulk/heavy cargo.
Skills Required
- Strong coordination and communication skills, especially for shift handovers.
- Good understanding of despatch documentation and compliance.
- Ability to work under pressure, manage tight delivery schedules, and adapt to rotational shifts (including night shifts).
- Basic computer proficiency (MS Excel, ERP systems).
Experience: 7–12 years
Qualification: Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Metallurgy or equivalent)
