Control Room Operator- Air Separation Unit

Purpose of the Role 
To support the execution of mechanical maintenance activities for the 900 TPD Air Separation Unit (ASU) at Duqm, ensuring equipment reliability, plant availability, adherence to safety standards, and cost-effective maintenance practices, under the guidance of the Maintenance Manager.

Job Responsibilities (KRA)
Commissioning & Startup Phase 

· Participate in commissioning activities, testing, and plant startup. 

· Assist in troubleshooting mechanical issues during initial operation. 

· Support performance testing and stabilization of the plant. 

· GOX plant Startup 

· GOX plant shutdown 

· De riming of GOX plant

Operations & Maintenance Phase

•        Control room panel Operator for 3 rolling shifts,

•        Production Reports generation, Shift Report generation

•        Panel Operations

•        Field rounds and Equipment reading logs

•        Product Pipeline management, Pressure and Flow fluctuations management

•        Shift activity log preparation and executing the shift activity

•        Support mechanical maintenance activities as per planned schedules.

•        PTW system coordination

•        LOTO system Management

•        Ensure proper documentation of maintenance activities and adherence to safety procedures.

Key Responsibilities

1.       Key Equipment Management in Operation Point of view

•        Air compressors, expanders, turbines

•        Cryogenic pumps & cold box systems

•        Heat exchangers and cryogenic pipelines

•        Water Pumps, Cryogenics Pumps ,

•        Static Equipment

•        Cooling towers, chilled water systems

•        Utility compressors, air dryers

•        Firewater systems, storage tanks

•        Nitrogen/Oxygen distribution pipelines

2.       Shutdown & Turnaround Management

•        Plan and coordinate annual shutdowns and major Startup and Shutdown activity

•        Shutdown activity and ASU startup Preparation

•        Coordinate with Maintenance team, contractors, and OEMs.

3.       Safety & Compliance

•        Ensure compliance with:

o        HSE standards and company safety policies

o        Adherence to PPEs

o        Cryogenic safety procedures

o        Permit-to-Work (PTW) system

•        Drive a zero-incident safety culture.

Job Requirements (KPI)
 Experience Required 

 7–11 years in: 

o ASU / Cryogenic / Industrial Gas plants (preferred) 

o Steel plant o Gox /GAN plant 

o Large Air Separation Plant 

o Steel /Ammonia 

Key Skills & Competencies 

 Strong expertise in Large ASU Operation systems 

 Advanced knowledge of Oxygen and Nitrogen Pipeline system 

 Hands-on Operational experience in: 

o Compressors, pumps, turbines 

o Column Troubleshooting 

o SCADA /DCS /PCS-7, Siemens DCS, PLC 

 Ability to read P&IDs and engineering drawings 

 problem-solving, and decision-making skills 

 Experience with SAP & CAD drawing /3D model view 

 Basic knowledge with piping isometric drawings

 Plant uptime & equipment availability
