Shift Engineer – Operations-ASU

Purpose of the Role 
The Incumbent will be responsible for managing and monitor the safe, stable and efficient operation of a 900 TPD Air Separation Unit (ASU) in a shift-based environment, ensuring reliable production of Oxygen and Nitrogen, optimum plant performance, equipment availability, process stability and compliance with HSE standards.

The role will be responsible for field and control-room operations, process monitoring, troubleshooting, startup/shutdown activities, product pipeline management and coordination with maintenance teams to ensure continuous plant operation.

Job Responsibilities (KRA)
Project & Construction Phase 

· Work closely with the project and maintenance teams during construction of the 900 TPD ASU plant. 

· Assist in mechanical erection and installation activities of key equipment, including: o Air compressors, expanders, and cryogenic pumps o Cold box systems, piping, and static equipment 

· Support supervision of installation, alignment, and pre-commissioning checks. 

· Ensure compliance with engineering specifications, quality standards, and safety requirements. 

· Coordinate with EPC contractors, vendors, and internal teams for smooth execution and timely completion of mechanical works. 

· P&ID walkdown and Punch point preparation

Commissioning & Startup Phase 

· Participate in commissioning activities, testing, and plant startup. 

· Assist in troubleshooting mechanical issues during initial operation. 

· Support performance testing and stabilization of the plant. 

· GOX plant Startup 

· GOX plant shutdown 

· De riming of GOX plant

Operations & Maintenance Phase 

· Shift Engineer for 3 rolling shifts, second in command in the Shift the activity

· Production Reports generation and Circulation 

· Product Pipeline management, Pressure and Flow fluctuations management 

· Shift Report generation and circulation 

· Shift activity log preparation and executing the shift activity 

· Field rounds and Equipment reading logs 

· Support mechanical maintenance activities as per planned schedules. 

· PTW system coordination 

· LOTO system Management 

· Assist in root cause analysis and reliability improvement initiatives. 

· Ensure proper documentation of maintenance activities and adherence to safety procedures.

Key Responsibilities 

1. Key Equipment Management in Operation Point of view

1. Reliability & Troubleshooting 

· Participate in Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) for critical failures.

1. Shutdown & Turnaround Management 

· Plan and coordinate annual shutdowns and major Startup and Shutdown activity 

· Shutdown activity and ASU startup Preparation 

· Document Management

· Coordinate with Maintenance team, contractors, and OEMs.

1. Safety & Compliance 
   • Ensure compliance with: 
   • HSE standards and company safety policies 
   • Adherence to PPEs 
   • Cryogenic safety procedures
   • Permit-to-Work (PTW) system 
   • Drive a zero-incident safety culture.

   • Reliability enhancement 
   • Energy efficiency 
   • Digital and predictive maintenance systems 
   • Specific Power of ASU Key area for operational efficiency improvement

Job Requirements (KPI)
 Experience Required 
 5–11 years in: 

o ASU / Cryogenic / Industrial Gas plants (preferred)

 o Steel plant o Gox /GAN plant 

o Large Air Separation Plant 

o Steel /Ammonia Key Skills & Competencies 

 Strong expertise in Large ASU Operation systems 

 Advanced knowledge of Oxygen and Nitrogen Pipeline system 

 Hands-on Operational experience in:

 o Compressors, pumps, turbines 

o Column Troubleshooting 

 Ability to read P&IDs and engineering drawings 

 problem-solving, and decision-making skills 

 Experience with SAP & CAD drawing /3D model view

  Basic knowledge with piping isometric drawings
