Purpose of the Role
To lead and manage all mechanical maintenance activities for the 900 TPD Air Separation Unit (ASU) at Duqm, ensuring high equipment reliability, plant availability, safety compliance, and cost optimization,
Job Responsibilities (KRA)
Initially work closely with the project team during the construction phase of the 900 TPD ASU plant, leading all mechanical construction and erection activities.
Oversee installation, alignment, and commissioning of critical equipment including:
o Air compressors, expanders, cryogenic pumps o Cold box systems, pipelines, and static equipment
Ensure compliance with engineering standards, safety requirements, and project timelines during construction.
Coordinate with EPC contractors, vendors, and cross-functional teams for smooth project execution.
Post-commissioning, transition into the plant maintenance team and take ownership of:
o Mechanical maintenance strategy and execution o Equipment, reliability and performance optimization
o Preventive and predictive maintenance programs
Support plant stabilization, performance testing, and ramp-up activities after commissioning.
1. Maintenance Leadership & Strategy
Lead mechanical maintenance for both ASU
Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) programs.
Ensure alignment of maintenance activities with plant production targets.
2. Equipment Management
Air compressors, expanders, turbines
Cryogenic pumps & cold box systems
Heat exchangers and cryogenic pipelines
Water Pumps , Cryogenics Pumps ,
EOT Crane
Static Equipment
Cooling towers, chilled water systems
Utility compressors, air dryers Firewater systems, storage tanks
Nitrogen/Oxygen distribution pipelines
Ensure maximum reliability and availability of all equipment.
3. Reliability & Troubleshooting
Lead Root Cause Failure Analysis (RCFA) for critical failures.
Improve Reliability through structured maintenance practices.
Implement condition monitoring techniques (vibration, thermography, oil analysis).
4. Shutdown & Turnaround Management
Plan and execute annual shutdowns and major overhauls.
Coordinate with operations, contractors, and OEMs.
Ensure adherence to schedule, cost, safety, and quality requirements.
5. Safety & Compliance
Ensure compliance with:
o HSE standards and company safety policies
o Cryogenic safety procedures
o Permit-to-Work (PTW) system
Drive a zero-incident safety culture.
6. Budgeting & Cost Control
Prepare and manage maintenance budgets.
Optimize maintenance costs and spare part inventory.
Ensure availability of critical spares for uninterrupted operations
7. Team Management
Lead, mentor, and develop a team of engineers, supervisors, and technicians.
Allocate manpower effectively for routine, shift, and shutdown activities.
Drive performance through KPI monitoring.
8. Vendor & Contractor Management
Manage OEMs and external contractors.
Evaluate technical proposals and ensure quality execution.
Coordinate approvals and decisions with Head – ASU.
9. Reporting & Documentation
Report regularly to Head – ASU on:
o Equipment performance
o Maintenance KPIs and breakdowns
Maintain records in CMMS (SAP / Maximo preferred).
Update SOPs and maintenance procedures.
10. Continuous Improvement
Drive initiatives in:
o Reliability enhancement
o Energy efficiency
o Digital and predictive maintenance systems
Job Requirements (KPI)
Experience Required
8–15 years in:
o ASU / Cryogenic / Industrial Gas plants (preferred)
o Steel /Ammonia /
At least 3–5 years in a managerial or supervisory role .
Key Skills & Competencies
Strong expertise in ASU mechanical systems
Advanced knowledge of rotating & static equipment
Hands-on experience in:
o Compressors, pumps, turbines
o Alignment, vibration analysis, troubleshooting
Ability to read P&IDs and engineering drawings
Leadership, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
Experience with SAP & CAD drawing /3D model
Experience with piping isometric drawings
