Legal Counsel (Epc & Infra)

Designation: Sr. Manager 

Purpose of the Role
The Legal Counsel will provide legal support to business functions by advising on commercial transactions, infrastructure and project development matters, drafting and negotiating contracts, managing disputes, and mitigating legal and regulatory risks. The role requires close engagement with procurement, projects and operations teams to support the Company's growth and expansion initiatives.

Candidate should have significant experience in infrastructure, EPC, construction and major project contracts acquired at a leading law firm, with the ability to advise on complex contractual risk allocation and claims management.

Job Responsibilities (KRA)
I.                 Drafting, reviewing and negotiating infrastructure and project-related contracts, including EPC, construction, engineering consultancy, procurement, O&M, logistics and other project development agreements. 

II.               Drafting, reviewing and negotiating general commercial contracts, including procurement, supply, service, technology, logistics, land/property and project-related agreements.

III.             Advise on key commercial and contractual risks relating to project execution, risk allocation, variations, delay claims, liquidated damages, performance guarantees, indemnities and dispute management. Support project teams throughout the contract lifecycle, from tendering and bid evaluation to project execution and close-out.

IV.             Keeping abreast of latest laws and judgments, ability to understand local issues and regulations across multiple States.

V.               Identify material risks and collaborate with business teams and internal stakeholders, offering strategic legal advise and be an effective partner in cross-functional teams in high-growth and fast-paced environment, working closely with finance, projects, operational and business development teams.

VI.             Management and support in cases / claims arising out of complex commercial contracts, including claim management, claim assessment, pre-dispute strategy and management of dispute with external counsel.

VII.           Develop and improve contract templates, playbooks, SOPs and legal processes.

Job Requirements (KPI)
I.                 Bachelor’s/master’s degree in law from a recognized University.

II.               5-8 years of relevant post-qualification experience

III.             Experience with a law firm (Tier 1 or Tier 2) preferred.  

IV.             Preference for candidates with experience in manufacturing, infrastructure, energy, mining or large industrial projects who have worked on high-value contracts.

V.               Strong drafting and negotiation skills, along with excellent business judgment and strategic thinking.

VI.             Diligent, able to work independently and be able to manage numerous projects simultaneously.
