Purpose of the Role
The Chief - AI Officer will lead Digital Transformation and Artificial Intelligence strategy across all client companies and businesses. The incumbent will define the group-wide AI and digital roadmap, drive adoption of AI/ML solutions across manufacturing, supply chain, sales, and support functions, and build the capability, governance, and technology foundation needed to scale AI as a competitive advantage across the group. This is a group-level leadership role working closely with the CIO and business heads across all verticals.
Job Responsibilities (KRA)
1. Group-wide AI & Digital Strategy
• Define and own the AI and Digital Transformation strategy and roadmap for the entire Waaree Group, aligned to business goals of each group company.
• Identify high-impact use cases for AI/ML, automation, and advanced analytics across manufacturing, EPC, IPP, supply chain, sales, and corporate functions.
• Set priorities, timelines, and investment plans for AI and digital initiatives in consultation with the CIO and Management.
• Track emerging AI technologies and evaluate their relevance and applicability to the group's businesses.
2. AI Implementation & Technology Leadership
• Lead end-to-end execution of AI and digital transformation programs, from proof-of-concept to enterprise-wide deployment.
• Partner with IT, OT, and business teams to integrate AI solutions with existing ERP, MES, and plant systems.
• Drive adoption of AI in manufacturing (predictive maintenance, quality, yield optimization), supply chain (demand forecasting, planning), and customer-facing functions.
• Evaluate and select AI platforms, tools, and technology partners suited to group requirements.
• Establish data infrastructure, data quality standards, and analytics capability needed to support AI initiatives.
3. Stakeholder Management & Group Coordination
• Work closely with CXOs and business heads across all group companies to align AI initiatives with business priorities.
• Act as the primary point of contact for AI and digital transformation matters with the CIO and senior Management.
• Present AI strategy, progress, and business impact to the Board and Leadership Team as required.
• Engage with external technology partners, consultants, and AI solution providers to bring in best practices.
4. Team Building & Capability Development
• Build and lead a group-level AI and digital transformation team, including data scientists, AI engineers, and digital program managers.
• Establish a Centre of Excellence for AI to standardize approaches and share learnings across group companies.
• Drive AI literacy and change management across the organization, including training programs for business and functional teams.
• Mentor and develop talent to build long-term internal AI capability, reducing dependence on external vendors over time.
5. Governance, Risk & Reporting
• Establish AI governance frameworks covering data privacy, model risk, ethical AI use, and regulatory compliance.
• Define metrics and ROI frameworks to measure the business impact of AI and digital initiatives.
• Ensure AI systems and digital initiatives meet security, compliance, and audit requirements across group companies.
• Provide regular progress reports and business impact reviews to the CIO and Management.
Job Requirements (KPI)
Qualification : BE / B.Tech from a premier engineering institute (IIT / NIT / BITS or equivalent) / MBA / M.Tech or advanced degree in AI, Data Science, or related field preferred
