Purpose of the Role
To maintain, inspect, repair, and prepare continuous casting moulds to ensure smooth casting operations, optimum mould life, and high-quality billet/bloom/slab production while adhering to safety and quality standards
Job Responsibilities (KRA)
- Carry out inspection, maintenance, and refurbishment of continuous casting moulds.
- Assemble, dismantle, and prepare moulds for casting operations.
- Check mould dimensions, taper, alignment, and cooling water passages.
- Perform copper plate replacement, polishing, cleaning, and minor repairs.
- Ensure proper lubrication and sealing of mould assemblies.
- Monitor mould performance and identify defects affecting casting quality.
- Coordinate with the CCM production and maintenance teams for timely mould availability.
- Maintain mould history, maintenance records, and life-cycle data.
- Inspect cooling circuits for leakage, blockage, and efficient water flow.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures, SOPs, and 5S practices.
- Support breakdown maintenance and preventive maintenance activities.
- Assist in root cause analysis of casting defects related to mould performance.
Job Requirements (KPI)
- Knowledge of CCM mould assembly and maintenance.
- Understanding of copper mould tubes/plates, mould taper, and oscillation systems.
- Familiarity with cooling water systems and mould lubrication.
- Ability to read engineering drawings and use precision measuring instruments.
- Experience in preventive and breakdown maintenance of mould equipment.
- Knowledge of casting quality parameters and mould-related defects.
- Basic knowledge of hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
- Proficiency in using workshop tools and maintenance equipment.
Experience : ITI with 6 to 15 Yrs
