Purpose of the Role
The CCM Technician is responsible for the safe and efficient operation of the Continuous Casting Machine (CCM) to produce high-quality billets, blooms, or slabs as per production targets.
Job Responsibilities (KRA)
- Operate and monitor the Continuous Casting Machine (CCM) to ensure safe, stable, and efficient casting operations.
- Control casting parameters such as mold level, casting speed, secondary cooling, and strand quality.
- Coordinate with EAF/IF, Ladle Furnace (LF), and crane operators to ensure uninterrupted steel flow.
- Monitor billet/bloom/slab quality and take corrective actions to minimize casting defects and breakouts.
- Perform start-up, sequence casting, grade changes, and shutdown activities as per SOPs.
- Inspect CCM equipment regularly and report operational abnormalities or maintenance requirements.
- Maintain production records, casting data, downtime reports, and shift handover documentation.
- Ensure compliance with safety procedures, PPE usage, and housekeeping standards in the CCM area.
- Support preventive maintenance activities and coordinate with Mechanical and Electrical teams during breakdowns.
- Contribute to productivity improvement initiatives through Lean, TPM, 5S, and continuous process optimization.
