Purpose of the Role
The incumbent will be responsible for operation, maintenance, and breakdown handling of Raw Material Handling System (RMHS) mechanical equipment in the SMS plant to ensure uninterrupted material flow and plant productivity.
Job Responsibilities (KRA)
- Carry out preventive and breakdown maintenance of RMHS mechanical equipment – conveyors, belt systems, pulleys, idlers, gearboxes, crushers, screens, etc.
- Monitor equipment health and report abnormalities to shift in-charge/engineer.
- Attend to belt conveyor issues – belt splicing, alignment, tensioning, and pulley/idler replacement.
- Ensure timely lubrication and greasing schedules are followed.
- Support shutdown/overhaul activities as per maintenance plan.
- Maintain safety standards and follow plant SOPs during all maintenance activities.
- Coordinate with electrical, instrumentation, and operations teams for smooth equipment functioning.
- Maintain daily maintenance logs, spares consumption records, and job cards.
- Ensure minimum downtime through quick fault diagnosis and corrective action.
Job Requirements (KPI)
- Strong hands-on knowledge of RMHS mechanical systems in a steel/SMS environment.
- Good understanding of conveyor systems, belt maintenance, and rotating equipment.
- Ability to work in shifts and handle emergency breakdowns.
- Basic knowledge of safety protocols (PPE, LOTO, work permits).
- Team player with good coordination skills.
- Experience Required: 7+ Years
