Purpose of the Role
To maintain and troubleshoot electrical systems in the MRSS, Utility, and Rolling Mill areas, ensuring safe, reliable, and uninterrupted plant operations through effective preventive and breakdown maintenance while adhering to electrical safety standards
Job Responsibilities (KRA)
MRSS & Electrical Maintenance
- Operate and maintain HT/LT electrical systems, transformers, switchgear, circuit breakers, and power distribution equipment.
- Carry out preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of MRSS electrical equipment.
- Perform safe isolation of electrical equipment during shutdowns by following LOTO and PTW procedures.
- Troubleshoot electrical faults and restore equipment to minimize production downtime.
Utility Maintenance
- Maintain electrical systems of compressors, cooling water pumps, DG sets, MCC panels, LT/HT feeders, and utility equipment.
- Monitor electrical equipment and report abnormalities to ensure reliable plant operation.
- Assist during planned shutdowns and emergency breakdown maintenance.
Electrical & Automation
- Perform maintenance of AC/DC motors, MCC/PCC panels, VFDs, electrical drives, sensors, limit switches, proximity sensors, and field instruments.
- Support basic PLC and automation fault identification in coordination with the Automation team.
- Carry out cable laying, cable termination, panel wiring, and motor installation whenever required.
Maintenance & Documentation
- Execute preventive maintenance schedules as per maintenance plans.
- Record maintenance activities, equipment history, and breakdown reports in SAP/CMMS (if applicable).
- Maintain housekeeping and ensure availability of critical electrical spares.
Safety & Compliance
- Follow electrical safety procedures, PTW (Permit to Work), and LOTO guidelines.
- Ensure compliance with company safety standards during maintenance activities.
- Participate in safety audits and toolbox talks.
Job Requirements (KPI)
- Hands-on experience in HT/LT electrical maintenance
- Experience with transformers, switchgear, MCC panels, motors, and utility equipment
- Breakdown & Preventive Maintenance
- MRSS / Substation Maintenance
- 11kV / 33kV System Experience
- Basic PLC Knowledge
- ABB / Siemens Drives
Qualification : ITI Electrician (Regular Course)
Experience
- 7+ years in Steel Plant/ Power Plant/ Heavy Manufacturing /EPC manufacturing
- Hands-on experience in Electrical Maintenance, MRSS, and Utility Operations
