Head – Plant Engineering

Purpose of the Role 
The Head — Plant Engineering will act as owner's engineer for all plant infrastructure at the Gigafactory — reviewing and verifying civil, structural, MEP, HVAC, dry room and compressed dry air system designs prepared by appointed consultants and EPC contractors.

Job Responsibilities (KRA)
1. Owner's Engineering & Design Review

•   Act as owner's engineer — reviewing and verifying civil, structural, MEP, HVAC, dry room and compressed dry air system designs.

•   Define technical specifications and performance requirements for critical plant utilities: dry rooms, HVAC, cleanroom classifications, process water, compressed air, fire suppression and HT/LT electrical infrastructure.

•   Review, challenge and approve engineering drawings, BOQs and specifications from consultants and EPC contractors.

2. Consultant & EPC Coordination

•   Manage and coordinate appointed engineering consultants ensuring design deliverables meet Gigafactory requirements and project timelines.

•   Hold consultants and EPC contractors accountable for deliverable quality, schedule adherence and technical compliance.

•   Interface with manufacturing engineering on equipment installation requirements and facility constraints.

3. Commissioning & SAT

•   Support project team and EPC contractors during equipment installation and commissioning — witness key milestones, review installation quality, raise and close punch lists.

•   Ensure Site Acceptance Testing (SAT) is completed to specification for all plant utilities and equipment.

•   Manage handover from construction to operations — ensure all systems are tested, documented and operational.

4. Statutory Compliance

•   Ensure all plant infrastructure complies with applicable Indian statutory requirements: factory building rules, electrical safety, fire NOC, environmental clearances and BIS/IS standards.

•   Manage PESO approvals for electrolyte storage and other hazardous material facilities.

•   Coordinate with regulatory bodies and maintain all statutory approvals throughout project execution.

5. Documentation & Operations Readiness

•   Maintain as-built documentation, O&M manuals and handover packages for all plant utilities.

•   Plan for long-term operability and maintenance of all infrastructure systems.

• Ensure complete, audit-ready documentation is in place before handing over to the operations team

Job Requirements (KPI)

Experience:

15–20 years in plant engineering for large-scale industrial or manufacturing facilities.

•Prior experience as owner's engineer or PMC on a greenfield Gigafactory, pharmaceutical or semiconductor plant.

•Track record managing engineering consultants, EPC contractors and statutory approvals for complex industrial projects.

Qualification:

BE/ B.tech /Master's in Civil, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.

Experience in large industrial or manufacturing plant setup; knowledge of cleanroom and controlled environment facilities preferred.
