Purpose of the Role
To serve as the senior legal advisor to leadership at Jindal Steel Oman — owning contractual risk, dispute resolution, regulatory compliance, and governance across the full spectrum of a complex international manufacturing operation.
Job Responsibilities (KRA)
Commercial & Corporate Legal Advisory
- Provide strategic legal counsel to senior management on commercial, corporate, and regulatory matters
- Support legal aspects of manufacturing, procurement, projects, and business expansion
- Align legal strategy with business objectives while minimizing organizational risk
Contract Management
- Lead drafting, review, negotiation, and administration of all complex agreements — supply, sales, EPC, technology transfer, JVs, NDAs, MOUs, and service contracts
- Drive end-to-end contract lifecycle management
- Build contract governance frameworks, templates, and approval mechanisms
Arbitration & Dispute Resolution
- Lead legal strategy for commercial disputes, arbitration, and ADR matters
- Manage domestic and international arbitration proceedings
- Coordinate with external counsel and arbitration specialists on complex cases
International Legal & Cross-Border Transactions
- Manage legal matters for international contracts, global procurement, import/export, and multi-jurisdictional dealings
- Advise on international trade regulations, sanctions compliance, and global contractual obligations
Compliance & Corporate Governance
- Ensure compliance with Oman laws, corporate regulations, labour legislation, and environmental standards
- Strengthen legal compliance programs, internal controls, and governance frameworks
Legal Risk Management
- Identify and mitigate legal, contractual, and commercial risks
- Conduct legal risk assessments for strategic projects and business initiatives
Leadership
- Partner with Commercial, Procurement, Finance, HR, Operations, and Supply Chain teams
- Lead, mentor, and build a high-performance legal function
Job Requirements (KPI)
- LLB / LLM from a recognized university (mandatory)
- Additional qualifications in Commercial Law, Corporate Law, Arbitration, or Contract Management preferred
- 15+ years of post-qualification legal experience in manufacturing, industrial, EPC, or multinational setups
- Strong expertise in commercial & corporate law, contract management, arbitration, and cross-border transactions
- Experience handling multinational agreements and international stakeholders
- Prior Middle East / GCC exposure is an advantage
- Strong business acumen, stakeholder management, and leadership skills
